Life at the Zoo
July 1st, 2008animals, photography, pics
A couple years ago I went to the zoo in San Francisco to observe the apes as part of an Anthropology project. I thought it would be fun, but it sucked hard. I watched the apes for an hour, documenting what they did every minute, and they barely did anything. “Eats, scratches. Scratches. Scratches and eats. And scratches.” I ended up pretty depressed due to the apathy in some of the animals, but I managed to get some neat pictures out of the deal.
I had to water mark all these images manually and I realize it looks pretty damn ghetto, but I run a pretty low-budget operation around here.

Peace

Adaptation

This little primate was so cute; as soon as it began to sprinkle outside he grabbed a blanket and sat just like that.
The Chase

Two women chasing a peacock. Just sayin’, that’s not something you see every day.
So! I guess ape wins this round of virtual poppycock.

Great pictures. Wish there were more ape pictures.

Great shots! The “Peace” one is my favorite.
@honest ape
I think the apes were just really bored. They were like “yeah, we’re at the zoo. It sucks here,” so I didn’t take many ape pictures. They kind of looked how I would look if I was locked up in a pen.
@sherri
Thanks! That’s my fav too. I was going to just take a regular pic of the lion, but I decided to try and be artsy, and it worked. Here, anyway. I have tons of attempts at artsy that didn’t work at all.
That visit to the zoo was so sad. All the animals looked so incredibly bored and depressed. Even the snakes there looked depressed.
and… crap.. I was going to make a watermark for you before your next post. *sigh* I suck.
